the way u imagine others' intentions is to put urself in others' shoes. same action may rise from different intentions. before you have the full knowledge of all the factors that others consider when making a decision, which I highly doubt such full knowledge is even possible, the best shot is to assume the factors that you would consider. if u think others do that because of this, then it must be that u would do that because of this

I remind myself all the time that there might be another cause, keeping my mind open and staying honestly skeptic on most information sources. but that is sense, which is easier for me than sensibility, the nature assumed by women especially when regarding relationships.

if u don't like some particular characteristic of another person, it must be that u don't like that property on urself. if u really hates that character, it means u have it on urself, and u hate it on urself. otherwise, why would I care so much about others being like that? probably because it reminds u that u urself have similar problem.

fighting for the tribe is in the nature of human beings, ever since prime human become used to living in groups. a good army may not necessarily need individual intelligence, by which I mean personal interest over everything else. ultimate individual intelligence may provide a superb army, but human cannot be that trusted. human makes mistakes. a platoon of single minded soldier led by one intelligent unit is easy to find and can get things done.

Ok，那么现在我要来说一些关于单相思的话题。 
　　几年前，记得我好像说过这样的话，“单相思这种东西，也只有白痴和艺术家才会为之沉沦。”现在看来，这话说得其实自怜意味颇重，姑且不说有没有把自己比成艺术家的意思，就算是厚道的自比白痴，但把艺术家拉下水显然是用心恶毒，即使艺术家和白痴之间在某些时刻是可以画等号的，而且此处的这个“白痴”绝对和我们平时在骂人时使用的不是一个词，更何况，“白痴”作为“S B”的娘娘腔版，也少出现在真正骂人的话中。 
　　 
　　有一种传说是双子星座的人是最容易陷入单相思的一个群体之一，而星座这个东西，大概世界上也只有台湾人才会把它真正当回事吧。况且还有一种说法是什么星座移位、日期变更，这样以来我就变成了金牛座，跟双子没啥关系。好，结束关于星座的无聊话题，我其实是想说，不管最容易陷入单相思的群体是哪一群，我一定是身在其中。 
　　 
　　大多数人都是无聊的，这具体表现为，很多人都喜欢为电影或者小说里的某个情节或者某个人物心理什么的找一大堆理论来解释，而作为无聊界的翘楚，我更是觉着这项工作其乐无穷。 
　　天龙八部里有个很奇怪的老先生叫无崖子，我年幼的时候很喜欢他的逍遥派，我年轻的时候很向往他本人，现在，我还不算特别老，可是我已经明白了就算我将余生都用来钻研围棋也不会有谁突然跑过来传我几百年功力，而且不论是风骚御姐型的李秋水，还是萝莉女王类的天山童姥都是不会看上我的。所以我最近就开始研究无崖子老先生的另一侧面，并努力向之看齐，就是他为啥会喜欢那个雕像。 
　　书里说，无崖子的雕像是李秋水的妹妹，我们就姑且按照某个百合电影的说法把她叫做李沧海吧。李秋水的说法是，当她和童姥争无崖子搞三角关系的时候，李沧海还是小孩不可能介入这个游戏。至于这一点则是李阿姨她没有常识了，她肯定不认识纳博科夫，实施上老教授一直都是对小萝莉情有独钟的。但是具体到无崖子身上，他是和李秋水厮混了N多年之后，连孩子都生出来了，才发疯爱上雕像的。 
　　现实中，对不起，我跟现实不太熟悉，那么，在一切作品里，一些桥段中会有比如中年男子婚姻疲劳、孩子闹腾、事业不顺、日日忙于生计、心情是灰色的、内心孤独落寞，他们有一天就会突然发现“啊！原来我最喜欢的是我上学时的那个谁谁谁呀！”的剧情。可这样的故事问题在于，匆匆几十年过去了，再回首，你心依旧，你旧个什么劲啊你？ 
　　精神寄托。请童姥不要伤心，我反正是觉着无崖子还是喜欢李秋水的，至少是一开始喜欢，至少是喜欢她的外表，所以他的雕像选择的依然是有着和李秋水最大相似度容貌的李沧海。而童姥和秋水在死前感慨的“不是她”“是她！”就很无聊，一颗痣而已，有那么大关系吗？无崖子喜欢的不是幼齿的李沧海，他甚至可能当初就根本没怎么搭理过那小丫头片子，而那个李沧海的雕像，更多的是李秋水的替代品，或者说是无崖子想象中的李秋水。推想是这样的，无崖子和李秋水结合，和很多结了婚的男人女人一样，他失望了，他不能接受他的秋水妹和他想象中的不同，于是他开始寻找新的寄托，他想起了和李秋水一模一样的李沧海，他的印象中李沧海是个小孩，孩子一直都是被看做纯真美好的，所以他就把李沧海做成了雕像。其实说到底无崖子喜欢的只是雕像，是那个被他自己想出来的女人。
　　所以说，无崖子老师是男人中的一类极品，他风流潇洒落拓不羁，长得好，本事大，又找女人喜欢，更重要的是在他放浪形骸的外表下，还有一颗极端理想主义的幼稚的向往爱情的心。无崖子先生是艺术家。 
　　 
　　引一段我追忆死水微澜、祸水红颜、似水年华的高中文的段子：

　　对了，第三个梦，也就是在火锅之后的那个，我梦到的普希金决斗的情节，不过结果换了。 
　　 
　　荒诞的是要么妥协，要么做无崖子，我们在最开始的时候都是想和那个被想象出来的人在一起，后来，逐步妥协，开始寻找那个和想象近似的人，直到完全背叛最初的自己。

One idea of product/startup

Sometimes, it might be easier to first have a idea of starting something new then go to look for a job.

In my years of pursuing my PhD degree, I have been looking into a thing called dynamic spectrum access, an application that is always tightly connected to cognitive radios.  After years of advocating, it is still a futuristic idea.

Where will the demand for more wireless bandwidth meet the reality?
Not at home/office.  Everyone has Internet at home. Femtocell offloads 3G connections to DSL, cable or fiber.

Not at any place with ample WiFi access points.  So long as WiFi is deemed fast enough, other technologies cannot beat that.  Fortunately millions of people are developing applications to increase the bandwidth demands of billions of people.  WiFi speed cap is still way above any Internet connection speed.

How much Internet connection and how much local connection?

The opportunity is huge if we can provide on-the-road bandwidth.  Currently, either music radio in passenger vehicles or video news on public transportation.  3G is far from sufficient.  4G is in deployment, which requires large investment.  VANETs are suitable for provide local connections.  Not necessarily Internet connection.  What can we do with that?

為嘛還留著windows

和windows漸行漸遠，尤其是入手macbook air後。可是還有幾樣東西目前還不方便用Windows之外的方法替代。如下：

• PPS - can use youku instead
• QQ - linux版的qq，不管是腾讯做的还是别人做的，都没有完整的功能, but now there is webqq, which is awesome
• MS Office Visio - 还是visio比较好看。可能mac上有软件可以做类似的
• Itunes - 我还不知道怎么把音乐和app从linux里弄到iphone里。mac当然可以用，可这个air只有100G硬盘，不太舍得用来存东西，比如音乐视频IOs app之类的 Now I use android
• Games - 很多游戏都只能在windows下阿，尤其是国产游戏。不过反正我的笔记本也都五年了，即使要玩国产游戏也跑不动。外国游戏我也就玩玩PES，倒是可以用wine，流畅也勉强可以接受
• Adobe Acrobat - wine曾经是可以用的，但是比较卡，有时候还弹出没弄明白的错误。现在直接是因为Visual studio 的什么错误就退了。
• iWebcamera - 用iPhone做摄像头

原来Windows的市场还是绝对优势啊，wiki的资料显示，linux/Mac几乎没有增长，超70%的份额还是在微软手里。美国的统计数据跟世界的统计数据比起来linux高了几倍。

Multichannel CSMA/CA

CSMA/CA and multichannel concept have been around for a not short while. It would be stupid that nobody has considered multichannel CSMA/CA.

Well, the reason that seems to have cause the current situation, where single-channel CSMA/CA is more well known, is that single-channel CSMA is used everywhere in WiFi hot spots, which is because common WiFi APs don't communicate at more than one channels at the same time or jump frequently among channels.  And this is probably because common WiFi environment is static without much dynamic interference, such that there is no need to switch channel once a channel is picked during initialization.  For home use, a mobile station wants to connect to an AP and doesn't waste power to check the AP and MS are on the same channel, which is another incentive that AP locks on to a channel and all mobile stations perform CSMA/CA to contend for access.

If we are put in a more dynamic ad hoc scenario, which WiFi is also designed to accommodate, multi-channel CSMA/CA with frequent channel vector exchange between transmitters and receivers would come to use. By the way, frequent channel status exchange between the transmitter and the receiver is necessary for multichannel CSMA/CA.

For centralized networks, it would be better if the AP stay at the same channel and use it to death rather than the AP hops around several channels to accommodate different mobile stations.  More single-channel APs can always be installed as interfaces to the backhaul for increased population of users, example being several APs each working on a different channel (1, 6, 11).

For distributed ad hoc networks, maybe multichannel CSMA/CA is more appropriate, because first the high mobility results in dynamic interference, second the distributed form make communication pairs more flexible rather than determined to be a star centered at the AP, so a smaller size of network has more flexibility to change channel.

Alternatives to 802.11p using CSMA/CA

1. Self-organizing TDMA (STDMA)
2. Mobile Slotted ALOHA

Prepare what you desire

I was once confused about what to prepare before any non-trivial events. Later I realized the answer to the question of what to prepare is actually what you desire, rather than what you think the other parties would expect from you.

At this point, the most important and urgent preparation would be the 8-week stay at TOYOTA ITC in California:

1. The first that I desire would be creating more contacts, at least 10 people.
   How to prepare? Start from within the company, reach to other departments, get to know people from other companies once get a chance.  Talk more, smile more.


2. The second would be to gain knowledge from TOYOTA about vehicular communication, current status, potential development, concerns, past attempts, what are the focuses of other researchers.  This will help my thesis a lot.
   How to prepare? First organize what I am capable of, what I am familiar with, be able to describe my resume. Second, prepare lots of ideas and ask for comments.


3. The third.  Take this opportunity to get back in touch with friends in CA.  They would also be a great resource for job opportunities.


4. The fourth, the least important.  Take days to national parks, beaches and Chinese restaurants to enjoy California.  But Friday night might be a great time to bound with some single male employees.

Popularity of wordpress manifested by the existence of wpchina

As a wordpress newbie of less than a month, I ran into this pretty chrome app called JustWriteBlog by a Chinese developer.  Beside noticing this versatile developer named shinemoon after some digging, I got to know that there is a Chinese unofficial website for wordpress called wpchina.org.  Unlike the relation of renren to facebook, wpchina is a site maintained by a community of Chinese users providing mainly wordpress concept and software in the language of Chinese, while respecting the origin of everything, wp, in its domain name.   Apart from bridging the language gap between an enormous Chinese-only user and the world, I cannot help suspecting that the great fire wall is blocking wordpress, at least once in a while.  Although it turned out that it is not blocked according to this list on Wikipedia as of 4/27/2011, there is really no guarantee that wp access in China can stand forever, especially when the Chinese user population grows.  Text posts on wp are still less influential than video or photo blogs that sinisterly indicate something while not explicitly write it out.  With all these reasons, wpchina arises and seems to be getting vivid.

The greatest wall of China is language and culture, which is also the most precious legacy of China.  Is there really a way to balance preservation and development?

没搜到关于这个题目的太多信息，有这么一篇：

　　我不如你，我是早没有了少女心的了——唔，可能连少年心都已没有。《悟空传》之所以当年能引起那样大的反响，追捧它的也都以学生为主力军，很大的原因是因为，它符合少年们钟情于毁天灭地的热血心情。。
今何在的青春期延续时间比一般人都长，到二十多岁时还能那样激情洋溢，整篇文真是一鼓作气，当然，这也叫作随想随写。稍许有了点梗概，搁心里就发慌了，得赶紧落到手指上来，不管是动笔还是敲键盘。。
我是觉得，他就是写《悟空传》的时候太顺了，导致他写今后每一部的时候都杯具，直接进入挤牙膏阶段，那叫一个辛苦。他写原创不够洋洋洒洒，远不及写同人的时候更有构架感。究其缘由，我想，是由于今何在是个构筑故事剧情走向强过刻画人物性格萌点的写手。也许他确实很能幻想，但他不够现实，（现在这毛病似乎好了一些）笔下的人物都是为了剧情而在动，而不像有些写手，人物性格太过丰满了，连剧情的都只好为他们让路。。
最显著一点，今何在不会写女人，甚至于可以说，他对女人的了解真TMD浅薄。在这上头江南也一样。记得群里曾讨论过：江南的套路是，书里永远都有一个娇小玲珑古灵精怪的黄蓉，他就好黄蓉这一口。你让他去写御姐，写女王……好吧，他自己也承认没写出个像样的来了。
今何在同理，没准他比江南还不如，他笔下的女人从来都是为了辅助男人的梦想而存在的，男人要没了，她们的光彩也就消失了。《悟空传》里最明显的是紫霞跟小白龙，一个同生共死了，另一个也同生共死了，死之前还要为了男人犯最后一次天条。她们的存在只是为了在末路英雄孤军奋战到最后一刻，没有其他任何人再站在他们一侧时，她们以血肉之身为代价，只为陪在他们身旁。
RBT，这是一种纯男性思维个人英雄主义的爱情观。

我想找的只是这篇的后两段，总的来说就是这俩人的爱情观虽不同，体现在女性角色的性格和命运上，但是共同的是“对女人的了解真TMD浅薄”。这可能正是我喜欢他们的故事和角色的一个重要原因呢。当然我不同意这篇里说今何在“笔下的女人从来都是为了辅助男人的梦想而存在的”，而江南的女性都是黄蓉，不过如果说他们都没经历过很多女性可能差不太多。这几个女性角色确实单一啦，而且每个故事里也就一两个女的，男的一大堆，是不是说明在他们和我们的青春期世界里，兄弟占很大比重，也更多种多样，而女性只是幻想，于是比较容易把所有幻想都集中在一个女性角色上。

对女人的了解“浅薄”，可能也是他们幸运的地方吧，所以故事才会清新，纯净。你了解了女性越多了解女性，故事中就会越多出现“不知死活”的女人的各种纠结思维，也就没那么畅快的情节了。可是现实就是这样，没法像他们“童话”小说里那么通透。

MATLAB just doesn't sound so professional. It can do something pretty fast at the beginning, but limited when you gets deeper. MATLAB is good when the problem is well defined, extracted above real-world mess, in other words, for science. For simulations and experiments, maybe something dirty would be more impressive.

I just ran into this powerful tool that can generate a webpage as its minimal functionality. The homepage of Radioware@ND, directed by laneman, is generated using this tool. And the tool is opensource. I guess it's worth to learn this toy.

UHD replacing USRPx

Universal hardware driver (UHD) is meant to be a driver that can interface with any devices (USRP1, USRP2, N210 etc.). And in gnuradio-companion, there is a wrapper called UHD with only a source and a sink. There is an option called "Device Addr" in either UHD block, which I thought it would be the ip address of my USRP2. Then it gave me error of "RuntimeError: ValueError: invalid args string: 192.168.10.2". Going through the c++ code for uhd_usrp_sink couldn't help me understand what args string would be valid, but googling for an image of the UHD USRP sink block (http://old.nabble.com/GNURadio--%3E-UHD-transition-LFRX-(Ubuntu,-Karmic)-td30542095.html) indicates that I should have left the blank empty. And it runs happily after.

the message of "No USRP2 found" doesn't mean anything

Although I do not know why find_usrps does not find anything, even if I specify the network interface as "-e ethX", usrp2_fft.py runs alright on "-e ethX".

I have gone through almost all the posts returned at the inquiry of "No USRP2 found", "Raw Ethernet", etc. None of them mentioned that IT DOESN'T MATTER...

VMF use the TIGER file in 2006 (later versions are shapefiles, not text, don't know how to use) to generate topology and flow files for SUMO, which simulates traffic.

The TIGER file has road format like this:

Lots of information are missing, such as number of lanes, DIRECTION OF ROADS (in the TIGER file, some roads are two-way, and some are one-way), but VMF only takes TIGER files. So what comes from VMF is far from the real thing.  Number of lanes and directions need to be filled manually.

But, at this stage, I only want to simulate I-90 rather than an area.  So, I can just spend a day to make a simplified TIGER file formatted file by hand and feed to VMF.

Finally worked.

it used to give me a shader error right after "press any button" screen, for a long while. but somehow, mysteriously, it runs smoothly.

Still cannot figured out what's the trick exactly.

tried installing directx9 separately using winetricks. It helped a little when everything is a mess that i couldn't even start the program.

tried wine 1.2 and 1.3 alternatively several times. in the end it works in wine 1.3.

what doesn't work: in the settings of pes, there used to be fullscreen option available, when I couldn't even start the program. but now only window mode available.

additional notes: disabling compiz improves the performance a lot, as mentioned by everyone's post anywhere.

there is still error output, but didn't affect running:
